Taipei Revisted 2011-Raohe Night Market (饶河夜市）& Artist uncle in XMD

Rao He Night Market is easily 1 of my favourite night market in Taipei though not as big as Shihlin, but it is exactly the smaller area makes it easier to navigate as compared to Shihlin.

To get here, we took TRA from Taipei Main station to Song Shan Station. After which, we followed the road signs to here, its around a 5min walk :)

The stores are lined up in the middle of the road, with shops on the 2 sides too. But the interesting ones are the 1s in the middle. Consisting of food, clothes and misc items, you can be sure to find something to interest u as u walk in the market.

Twice I came here, I manage to buy some clothes. Not much, but still manage to buy even w/o going to Wu Fen Pu. Of course prices are not comparable as this is not a wholesale market. Then again, I am only interested in that 1 pc only.

The food selection here is great too..Finger foods like pop corn chickie, fried mushrooms/veggies/squids/crabs, cook food stalls like Fried Oyster/ Herbal pork ribs soups, the ever famous stinky fried tofu..The choices are so overwhelming that I do not know what to start eating with.

In summary, this is what we ate..

1). 1pc of fried crab each..Which is not fantastic at all in our opinions..

2). A bowl of herbal pork ribs soup which is super nice. The only downside is, the pork ribs are pretty meatless.

3). A chickie cutlet shared among us and a pac of fried squid. We took quite a long time to finish this as we were too full from the snacks earlier..

After all the eating, we proceed to find the vendor selling the shirts tat Mr Love want..We had no trouble finding her as she once told us her stall will be always in front of the big cross. There is a Catholic center inside the building behind her stall. Mr Love brought 3 from her this time. Which is consider a lot by his standards.

We decided to call it a day and head back to our hotel. After all, we did not have a good rest since last nite.

Upon reaching XMD, we came across the spray paint painter tat Uncle C mentioned. Stood there for nearly half an hr to watch him paint..We were both very impress by his skills. Brought 3 paintings as instructed by Uncle C. I was actually thinking whether to get 2 for our house. But did not in the end..Oh well…

I was searching for the tasty grilled corn I brought the other time here in XMD but to my dismay, I think the vendor come here any more…sad, we retreat bak to our hotel after tat to prepare for tmr’s activity.

Taipei Revsited 2011-Shoes madness- No concept shoes

1ST stop, is to Zhong Xiao Dun Hua station where we will search for the shoes I wanna buy. It has recently shifted to this new premises and I have no confidence whether I am able to find it. Luckily with the help of the Google map I printed while doing my homework, it was not too difficult after all.

I spotted Uniqlo there and went to shop around, turns out the jacket I brought in SG was on sale here. SGD13 bucks cheaper!!!Agggrrr..We then went to the East Metro Mall, which is an underground mall connect the 3 ZhongXiao stations..

The previous time when we were here, the shops were only half open, not sure whether was due to the bad weather or weekdays. This is a sat when we are visiting and most of the shops are open. I managed to buy some nice earrings from some random shop.

20min later, after much stopping in between, we finally came to Zhong Xiao FuXing station where SOGO is located. Here, I am gonna help Cindy buy blusher from some Japanese brand which is not available in SG. Furthermore, the price in Taiwan is the cheapest among the available countries.

I was actually not interested to get other stuff from here as they were way too expensive and thus after buying the blushers, we went to settle our tax rebate. In front of us is a PRC lady who spent most of the time arguing with the staff over the lack of documentations. I was pretty pissed and luckily they asked her to stand aside while she made her point and attend to me 1st. Ahhh the beauty of Taiwanese customer service

After which, we went bak to Taipei station where we caught a train to Song Shan to get to Rao He Night Market. Actually wanted to go to Wu Fen Pu but decided otherwise as the clothes in Taipei has already shifted to winter season clothings.

Tapei Revsited 2011-Departing Spore, Arriving Taipei

As usual, I booked the 1st flight over to Taipei, hoping to start the trip early. Flight was at 7am and we are expected to land at 12pm. Our usual practice is to spend the night at the airport, awaiting to check in at 5am and catch up on our sleep on the plan. Tiring but we are used to it.

We landed on time but faced a bit of challenge when clearing the customs as the officer was a bit on the fussy side, checking every single details, asking many questions. It took us longer than usual to clear for as we walked to the baggage claim area, our bags are already out, not a bad thing though.

As we exit the arrival hall, it caught my attention that they are selling Sim cards with 3G data plans. And the price is quite reasonable.NTD 500 for 5days of unlimited data usage, which is around SGD 23. On top of it, I get NTD210 worth of talk time.Thus we applied for 1, which requires our passport and IC. Lucky for us, they cater to iphone users which is using the smaller SIM card.

On bus to Taipei City

After settling the new phone line, we proceed to buy our bus tickets to downtown Taipei. There are 2 buses that ply to route to downtown Taipei. 1 is Guo Kuang (国光） the other 1 being Fei Guo（飞狗）.

Guo Guang has a bus terminal in Taipei Main station and would terminate the service there while Fei Guo’s terminal is pretty out of the way and thus passengers can alight at designated hotel stops.

Of course we choose Fei Guo since we need not transit in Taipei Main station, moreover, I have no idea of the exact location for our hotel. Turns out that the hotel is just beside the main road, super convenient.

The hotel was also pretty strict, they dun allow early check in thus we went for lunchie 1st before going back to check in at 3pm..

1st meal in Taipei, is Mr Love’s favourite –KFC, I do not really fancy their fries, taste like fried sweet potato instead, but their chickie definitely tastes better than SG version. Later when we passed by my favourite fried stuff stall, we decided to buy some snacks and eat it while waiting to check in.

Previously, when Mr Love dragged me to the dentist for the annual check up, he mentioned tat I have a wisdom tooth that is on the verge of decayin le..

I asked the dentist whether I can put on hold the extraction as I was about to depart for Taipei den...He told me still can hold for awhile..

Hehe And so, I oredi put off for 1 mth oredi, wanting to attend Boon's wedding 1st, den our dept lunch at Shangri-La...Den again, I put on hold as I am due to attend 2 more weddings in Dec plus X-mas celebrations..

Didnt want to miss out on food heheh but recently, the tooth is like giving me problem again..Although dentist told me the extraction will be more straight forward so a few days is all it take b4 everything goes bak to normal..

Deep down, I am still afraid, oredi scaring the shit out of me at the mention of visiting dentist, the tot of extracting my tooth sounds like a BIG nightmare kk...

Hope the tooth can last me thru this 2mths thru the new yr, den I tink I will go for an extraction..heheh but dunno will I put on hold or nt as CNY is in Jan..heheh..

OSIM Massage hand..

I read in a magazine once tat if we shd have cramps during 1 of the undesired but unavoidable days, the best remedy is not to pop the pink panadol..but to get ur hubs to massage ur tummy for u..hehehe

Why hubs onli, okie the article is about how to enchance ur marriage..whahah

Point is, I always do this even b4 reading this article..hehe..

So my poor hubs gotta be my massager during this difficult period, placing his hand on my tummy and vibrating it..The warmth of his hand provided temporary easing for the cramps making my tummy feel warm..

Its quite a nice feeling and you might want try during ur period..whahha tat is, if ur hubs is willing to be the massage hand...

Dinner with partner...

On this raining day, I am sitting at home staring into the rain, missing my Mr Love and trying hard to studee..

Went for dinner wif partner last nite and we update each other on our recent happenings..

Listening to her troubles, plannings and tok abit on the good old days we had in school..

How times fly, we knew each other when we were 17, fresh out from sec sch, juz starting to feel grown up by going to sch in causal clothes instead of uniforms..

Saw each other thru ups n downs, mugging during exams, skipping IS lessons to go Orchard, teasing each other in lectures, doing projects together and sharing our torubles..

How long was tat?It has oredi been 10 yrs, she went thru an important phase of my life with me, saw me grown from a gal to a woman, similarly, I did the same for her..

I knew whenever I had problems that I could not sort out, I could count on her to give me some advice tat is close to my heart, afterall, we had similar family backgrounds..Not many can understand our plights...Deep down, we aso hope each other can be happie, juz happie. Tat is how deep our fwenship is..

Everytime, when we meet up, juz before going home, we will give each other a hug, promising to meet up soon..Although usually we will wait for 2 or 3 mths to catch up again..

Its good to haf her for company on a lonely friday nitez, and I noe, I can count on this fwen in times of needs..Take care partner, hope all will be well for u...Till the next time we catch up *muacksz*...

With boss declaring half day off today for our dept, i finally get some time off to go shoppin and decided to drop by Kino before goin NUH..

Browsing thru the various books section while listening to my iPod makes me feel relax n at ease..

I luv this kind of feelin, listening to my fab music, soakin myself in the vast collection of books, takin my time to choose my books..believe it or nt, I felt destress after books shoppings heheh..

Tried to walk ard to get clothes but didn't succeed..was nt in the mood I guess..

Off to NUH now to see uncle n get results..

Out of sight, out of mind?

Mr Love is off to Xiamen for 4 days starting today n I didn't plan to go bak to mummy's hse tis time..

End up, got the whole rm to myself n my big bed..

Seriously, I'm not use to it..I'm accustomed to hafin him slpin beside me? Fighting with me for space n for the comforter..

Suddenly, I can slp in the middle of our bed and can mummified myself with the comforter seems abit lonely..As I lay on my bed thinking of him, I dropped him a msg to tell him he's been missed and the onli "comfort" he left for me is his smelly pillow tat I always threaten to throw out of the window someday hehe..

I totally hate this time of the yr where he gets to go on company trip without me..

Missed calls

The other day, as I reached hm after work, I greeted baby Yong Jun as usual..n to my astonishment, he refused to greet me bak and seems to be angry at me..

Feeling puzzled, I asked his nanny..turns out tat he had trie to face time me thrice tat afternoon and I didn't pick up his calls..

Heheh not tat I dun wan pick up, I later noticed tat my face time function has been turned off somehow without me knowing n thus missed his calls..

End up gotta apologized to him to get him tok to me..

Fishmonger

It's been a wk since we came bak frm our Taipei trip and yet I felt like I have alot of things to catch up n kept busy..housework especially laundry is top of the list..exam is another priority..I try to study at least 2 questions per nite..Which beri little given d-day is 1 mth away..realli need to pull up my socks..

Work is consider ok recently althought not exactly smooth sailing..I'm now quite custom to the hostility n returned the favor too..hehes it's not my style to be unfriendly but 2 can play the game..afterall wat makes u tink they I shd be friendly to u after all the treatment I received from u??

I'm particularly fed up with a fishmonger I know, recently her actions juz got worse..try as I might to ignore this person, it somehow will haf abit of effects on my work as information was not passed to me..More often than nt, I learnt things the hard way, meaning to say onli if I done a mistake and was picked up by whoever is checkin and had a heart to inform me,then onli I will noe..nice..

This fishmonger is aso a part type paparazzi, likes putting her noses into plp's affair..And of cuz not to mentioned the after gossips once she have any news..Her actions irks me alot recently and it takes all my self control to keep my cool when facing her..well,take it as she's giving me anger management lesson, hope tat it will make me a better person..

On a lighter note, I've truly enjoyed my little Taipei getaway..it's not our typical buy things, eat things trip..this time,we went exploring abit ard Taipei and was happie with wat we found..more updates later when I have the time to write up the posts n post the pics we took..hehe tat is if I'm bored amid my studying schedules

1 thing worth mentioning, I nearly brought another Miu Miu there hehe, it's their latest colour n I fell in love with it..but the conversion rate was not fanastic n I gave up..heheh well well..

Finally, it's the day of my long awaited Taipei trip, had been beri excited the whole day knowing tat I will be flying off early in the morning..Panicked abit I had not finished packing..Thus,I chiong all the way hm after all to pack the remaining stuff..Thank god for the outstanding list I came out with, the process is still consider smooth..

The only little hiccup is tat Mr Love needs to work OT..off all days, he need to stay bak today..As I waited anxiously for him to knock off, I tried to pack watever I can 1st and took a long hot shower..Luckily, he didn't stayed long, reaching hm at 8pm..

We decided to come to the airport early so tat he can eat popeyes for his dinner and after which,we will camp out here to wait for our flight which is at 7am..

We found a new cafe selling soups n sandwiches and I brought a bowl to try at 1am..not bad I shd say buy juz abit overpriced..6.70 for a bowl of chickie soup with corn...ermmmmzzz...

I tried in vain ti catch some slp but was waking up every 30 min and I finally gave up trying now as I am typing this post..Mr Love is even more zai, he haven even closed his eyes since reaching here..I reckon he will knock out as soon as we board the plane..Whahah

Truth to be told, I am beri hungry now and is not sure why, am waiting patiently outside burger king now, for them to start serving breakie..shall eat before we proceed to check in at 5 later..

Ciao for now and I shall update when I reached Taipei hotel..tat is if the wifi dun fail me..Taipei, here we come!!!woots!!!!

3days to Taipei..

3days more and we will be on the flight to Taipei already..I shd be uber happie at this short getaway, but I am so tied up by all the happenings tat I am so unsure whether I can njoy this trip or nt..

Nevertheless, I will try my best to put all things down and try to be happie for this 4days trip, afterall, when I come bak, there are things waiting for me to handle..

I totally have no choice over the recent happenings and is trying my best to give the due attentions to it, but in the process, I need to make some decisions and choose to neglect some things..

Those who are neglected might not understand why i make the decision, afterall, they are at the expense of my decision, but what to do?I cannot please every 1 can I? I admit, I am nt able to juggle with every thing, but try as I might, I am doing my best le..

Cindy is rite, I shd do wat I deem best and hope things will work out well, even if it doesnt, at least I can answer to my conscience...

Detoxing before my Taipei trip..

My Taipei trip is juz ard the corner and I juz have to got food poisoning at this time..It started yest but went away in the evening after taking medicine making me juz well enuff to go for Mr Love's dad bday celebration and we took steam boat..

But all was not meant to be, in the middle of night, I woke up with a serious stomachache and started vomitting..In the end, I woke up 3 times during the night to run to the toilet..

I was so tired tat, at times, I tried to ignore the pain and try to fall aslp bak but until when I cannot stand the pain, den I ran to the toilet again..

All those running bak n forth makes me slp like a log this mornin..The pain went away after all the things inside my stomach are being forced out..

Went to the doc with an empty stomach..Dun feel like eating anyting for fear that it will come out before I know it..While the doc was listening to my stomach during the check up, he suddenly asked me whether I am hungry?whahaha I was abit embarassed that he found out I am hungry when my stomach growls...

Hubs was joking to me tat it muz be a detox program for me b4 our Taipei trip so tat I can eat more during our trip..win oredi lo..For now, the diahhrea had stopped..I will be bringing all the medicine to Taipei, juz in case...

Mr Love's colleague intro us to a new buffet in Tiong Bahru Plaza serving porridge and steamboat buffet...

As we are going for steamboat tmr, we decided to check out the porridge line..

Nothing beri fantastic to be frank, but I like it..Given the price is onli SGD 6.90, its a eat all you want buffet, but dun expect to find alot of meat/fishes served here. There is onli 1 of each (meat,chickie,fish)..

But there is quite a range of the side dishes tat goes well with porridge, like salted egg, si chuan veggie, mei cai, ikan billis, deep fried and roasted peanuts etc...

Its abit like the typical teochew mui which suits be juz well..there is aso sweet potato in the porridge although I dun take..heheh

I went for 2 servings for the side dishes along with 3 bowls of porridge..While Mr Love concentrate more on the dishes and with 1 bowl of porridge onli..

The onli downside here is the drinks, which cost 2bucks for a cup..abit overpriced but u can always choose not to order :)..

We decided that we willl come try the steamboat buffet someday and we know where to go when we wanted someting light to start off the day ;)

How true..Some may argue that they are as happie even they dun have the significant other to share their happiness..yesh, but to me, nothing beats being able to share ur woes/happiness/tots with tat 1 and onli important person in ur life..

Being able to share the love of food, the joy of travelling together, the crappy things tat are happening in office, the memories when we look bak as we walked future down our life are priceless...
