So I toyed with the idea of cutting my hair real short again and rebond while I am at it.
Took me a long while to finally get my ass down to a salon because my weekends are all fully packed recently. Thank god for the Easter long weekend this week.
Scheduled the appointment at 10am since I reckon it would take 4-5hrs for the stylist to cut, rebond, dye and apply treatment to my hair. 4-5 hours is an under estimation.
When we were discussing the hair style, was advised against cutting too short for fear that the rebonding would not last. In the end, left the decision to my stylist since I am not very particular of cutting away my long hair. She was pretty surprised that I wanted to cut it real short in fact. And the process started soon after.
She 1st used nearly an hour to wash then cut my hair to the recommended length. I had long, thick and wavy hair which is not the best to handle for a hairstylist. In fact, at least 15mins is required to dry my hair even with their powerful dryer. Haha
After getting the desired length, she then applied the rebonding cream and let it set into my hair. Its another round of 45min of waiting time since the chemical refused to set in. Was told that it is due to the fact that I seldom do rebonding (last done was 2 years ago) and thus my hair is not used to chemicals. Oh Well..
By the time the chemical got washed away, blow dry my hair, it's already 1pm. I was starving by then. Luckily, I was given a break to go grab a quick lunch before returning for the rest of the treatments. Lunch break was 15min already my fastest speed. Literally gobbled down the whole plate of chicken rice and look as though as I had not eaten for the past 1 week.
Fresh hair cut, not rebond yet. |
Haha. Anyways, the un-rebond hair looks so messy that I am convinced monies is well spent on the rebonding part. Cannot imagine my hair looking so untidy.
Rebonding took up 1hour and 30mins, after which another layer of setting cream is applied for 30mins to hold down the rebonded hair. Washed and dry again before the dyeing process commence.
By now, I am already sitting in the salon for 6hours - the initial time she estimate how long the whole process would take. Got bored reading my papers, books and from watching the shows I downloaded. Tried to sleep but failed and ended up staring into space.
I chose a dark red-purple shade for the dyeing part. The last time I dyed my hair was during my pre-wedding days and for that, mummy nagged for 3 days straight. This time round I was smarter, got her blessing since we are sporting the same colour hehe.
I had to have 2 layers of dye applied to my hair as they were too thick (even after layering) and of course the colour takes more time to set in again. 45 mins later, another round of washing is done.

This time round the stylist did not dry my hair instead she applied some treatment cream while my hair is wet and proceed to steam it with some equipment which releases oxygen in the cover every now and then. I must say the smell is very bad so much so that I am holding my breath half the time during treatment.
The process was finished in 15 mins and went through a final round of washing and drying which takes up another half an hour.
Oxygen hair treatment |
I had never spent so much time in a salon before for my hair. Guess this is the result of doing everything at 1 shot.
Her parting words to me? "I hope I don't need to see you only after 2 years" Haha okie I will try but no promise :P
