I chose City Inn Hotel in Taichung as our accommodation for the last leg of the tour. Was deciding between Holiday Inn express and this but chose the latter due to price and location.
The website states that it is rite beside Taichung Station only but I was a bit skeptical due to previous experiences with the previous hotels.

Rear exit of Taichung station |
There are 2 exits in Taichung station, rear and front. If you are arriving from Taipei, the platform you alight from is nearer to the rear exit. This is also the exit where we can get to our hotel. There is only a small ticketing booth at the rear exit and in front of it are parking lots for motorcycles. Its like an small alley and you might missed if you are not careful.
Upon coming out of the alley, we turned left and walked along the shops, City Inn hotel is just 3 or 4 doors away from the small alley. You will not missed the it as their door is of bright orange colour.

Main entrance of the hotel |
As it is only 12:30pm when we reached, thus check in is not possible. However, due to the hot weather, Mr Love went and change into shorts and thus I took a break at the resting area of the hotel.
|
Resting area |
The hotel itself looks pretty new and modern. Staff at the reception counters are courteous and friendly in helping us with the paper work of checking in and luggage deposit.
There is a bar like counter near the resting area though I am not sure whether it is in operations or not. Also available is a business center where you can pay to use their Internet, a laundry room where you can pay to use the washing machines and 2 very clean toilets. Hehe. The 1st impression this hotel gave me is that it is clean which is very important to a fussy person like me.

Since the pricing of the room is pretty reasonable, thus I decided to book a better room-deluxe double at SGD85/night. We were assigned to the 10th floor of the hotel. I later learnt that the 7th to 10th of the hotel are designed specially but some designers and the deluxe rooms are located on these floors. The lower floor rooms however are the plain 1.

Love the drawings |
What I didn't expect from a deluxe double room is that the size is so pathetic, even smaller than the room we have in Taipei. I nearly fainted!!! There was virtually no walking space with the 2 luggage we have. I was jumping around the luggage and in the end, had to stand it up beside the wall when we were not using.

The bed |
Mr Love was disappointed to find no bathtub in this hotel, all it have is a shower area only. Bathroom size is also quite small but luckily it is kept clean.

The room switches were pretty high tech, using sensors instead of the conventional switches. But the thing is, we had trouble adjusting the air con temperature, thus we keep feeling warm in the room. So much so that I wrote in the suggestion form when checking out, thinking that their air con is faulty.
It is after the manager who replied me told me perhaps I didn't adjust the temperature correctly. hahah

Shops in front of the hotel |
I was looking out for convenience stores while walking and couldn't see any nearby. Its is after we checked in then I saw 1 at 100m away from our hotel. We did check with the reception and they directed us to another 1 down the road which is also around 100m away. I end up buying all the things I wanna eat from the 1 inside Taichung station when we alighted from the train..
Breakie is at the cafe located at B1, as you entered, you will have to show your room card and the staff will mark your "attendance" and give you a figurine for you to chope your seats.hehe Pretty cute..

Seat taken! |
I have to admit, this is by far the best breakie I had in all the Taiwan hotels I have stayed for the 3 trips. Though they still served the traditional Taiwanese breakie of fried noodles and veggies, but at least they served it in different style everyday. Unlike the 1 in Taipei, its all the same dishes everyday.

Fried bee hoon |
|
Scrambled eggs |
Besides the traditional dishes, they also prepared some special dishes every day to spice up the breakfast menu. I overheard some of the tourists praising their breakfast menus to be 1 of the best they ever had in Taiwan too.

Porridge condiments |

Day 1 breakie |
Overall, we had a pleasant stay here. Rooms are kept clean, location is practically next to the station though I would prefer a near convenience store. Breakfast is superb. I would have to book a bigger room if I choose to stay here again in Taichung.
There is also a big shopping mall 5min away from the hotel, quite atas from what I observed but I didn't check it out. Hehe
