And so she came across this eatery and found the food to be quite nice and therefore told us. Since Mr Love is gonna buy hp there today, I decided to grab lunch here. The name of the eatery is called "5 little bears".
We ordered 2 set meals- Braised pork rice and Oyster Vermicelli which comes with a drink each. On top of it, we also ordered Honey glazed fried chicken and deep fried shiitake. Total cost is SGD 19.20.
Oyster Vermicelli or Mee Sua
1 of the most iconic Taiwan street here known here. Every other Taiwanese eatery in Singapore have this on their menu. But it is not easy to find 1 that can matches the taste of the mee sua we had in Taiwan.
Personally, I don't find the version here nice. Its a tad too bland in my opinion. Chilli that comes with it do really stand out too. Oysters are so so too. I prefer the 1 sold at Shilin franchise.

The version here is served with preserved pickles, half a braised egg, some veggies and of course braised pork.
Althought using pork belly, but there is trace of fatty meat taste as you eat. I am really afraid of those fatty meat taste but they braised it real well to cover the taste. Also it actually feels like it is melting in your mouth once you put them in.
I also liked their preserved pickles which is mixed with a bit of chilli. Relieved that they served with pickles instead of bamboo shoots which I am turned off by the taste.

This is my personal favourite of the 4 items we ordered. Even after deep frying, you can taste a tinge of honey in the skin. The pepper and chilli powder goes well with the chicken.
Honey glazed fried chicken |
We ordered this as the deep fried cuttlefish is out of stock at the moment. I am not really a fan of deep fried shiitake, prefer the grilled ones. But the version severed here is quite good. Shiitake is big and juicy and again though already deep fried I can still taste the juiciness of the shiitake.
