台湾春天之旅 2013-Around Sun Moon Lake,Xuan Guang Temple (玄光寺)

We got down infront of the information/ visitor centre. This is also the pick up point for return routes. I went in to the visitor centre hoping to get some map/ information about SML as I didnt do much research on here..Hehe..

There was oredi a big crowd formed here when I went in. I overheard some1 asking for the timetable of the bus we took and requested for 1 too. This way, I can plan and manage my time better by deciding 1st which return timing to take.

There are also schedules of the bus plying inside SML. Frequency is not that high but then still, if you missed the ferry, its the only hope you have to go around SML..

Armed with the many brochures I collected, we went in serach of the ferry booth to exchange our coupons for the ferry tixs. The staff told us to look out for the "台湾好行" logo and we found it after a while.

To loook for this logo for exchanging your ferry tixs
We tore out the ferry tickets' coupon and exchange for the 1 here which will entitles us to unlimited ride on the ferry. We were then hurried to the harbour as the ferry is about to sail off. Along the way, I can see other operators offering NTD 100 per pax for the rite.It makes me wonder whether we are being ripped off by buying the package price.

But when I saw the ferry, I knew why. The 1 we took is easily the largest among the operators. And the usual price for the 1 we took is NTD 300, still justifiable in my opinions.

Chope!
There are 3 piers in SML and the 1 we are at is known as "Shui She (水社)" . If I am not wrong, all coaches will stop here and then you can transfer to the minibuses or ferry here to reach other place of interests. Then again, I didnt realli go find out as we will be here for 1 day only.

Decided to snack on my Doraemon bread while waiting for the ferry to start sail
There is a captain on board who does simple introductions to the surrounding of SML as we moved along the Lake. Pretty humourous guy who cracked us all up.

Most Atas hotel in SML

Wanted to sit on the deck but it was full :(
We reached Xuan Guang Temple Pier (玄光寺码头) about 15min later. Were told there the attraction here is Xuanguang temple and a famous tea leave egg.. Heheh because of the Tea leave egg temptations, I decided to get down here to explore haha..There is a fixed time that the ferry will leave for the next pier and we need to take note of the timing.

Pretty gloomly day that didnt spoil our mood

Looking down from top
We reached the temple after a 10min climb and as it was full of visitors, we didnt managed to offer the joss sticks, instead I only donate a token sum and then left the temple.

We decide to take another route for during descending and walked around more since there is still time left to explore a bit.
Long flight of stairs down
Overlooking the lake from here

Before heading back to the pier, I told hubs I wanted to try the tea leaves egg (茶叶蛋) for this is the main reason to come here. There is a small queue forming and we brought 2 quickly.

We rushed back to the pier just in time to board the ferry bound for our next destination - Ita Thao Pier (一达邵码头).
