Another Busan attraction not to be missed is Taejongdae. Named after the 29th King of the Silla Kingdom, this is a natural park with magnificent cliffs facing the open sea on the southernmost tip of island of Yeongdo-gu.
From Busan station exit 7, you can take bus 88 or 101 to reach the bus terminal nearby Taejongdae to get there. Journey is about 50min where you will passed by the port area of Busan.

It's a pretty long journey from Busan station and we fell asleep along the way. When the bus reached the terminal stop, an announcement is made that we reached Taejongdae and everyone got down.
Along the street, there are eateries and restaurants. Were a bit hungry and we decided to buy street food from one of the vendor before exploring the park.
|
Hotdog with fries |
Frankly speaking, the fried fries hotdog that we had here was really bad. It wasn't even heat up though we waited quite a while for the vendor to prepare. Wonder what she did when we thought she was heating up the food.
It was the worst feeling to eat cold food on a cold winter street. Really disappointed since we tried this piping hot in Dongdaemum when we visited Korea 6years ago. The feeling was unforgettable.

Super disappointing snack |
We walked straight along the eateries and cross the road to get to the entrance of Taejongdae.
Even from the entrance, I can see that it's all slope. So I secretly decided that we should take the tram or Danubi by hook or by crook. Heheh

Its day 3 in Korea but I think I have walked more than a week's worth here. Because of the long stairway in metro stations, vast area in attractions and not to forget uphill climbs, it's like we came here to trek. But it's still worth it after seeing the sights. The only thing is, I have accidentally sprain my leg a little while going down the metro stairs and the feet is hurting a bit as if I walked too much or fast.
Was secretly happy that I did my weekly run for months before this trip, else my legs would really give way from all the excessive walking and climbing here.
We found the Danubi ticket counter and proceed to buy the tickets.

Danubi Ticket counter |
Danubi is the park tram that makes scheduled stop at the various attractions in the park. You can choose to walk up the hills if you want but I wasn't prepared to risk my sprained feet.
We went to join the queue after purchasing the tickets but was refuse entry to board the tram without a reason. The manning personnel just told us to wait and we didn't know what we are waiting for and she didn't bother to explain.
We are not the only lost ones. There is another senior Korean couple who were refuse entry and look as lost as us.

Tram approaching |
By the time I was rejected a 2nd time, I am already pissed. Though it was winter but the sun was shining pretty brightly and I was perspiring a little while waiting. I decided to be firm a bit and asked the personnel why we are not allowed to board the tram despite holding tickets.
Turns out, there are serial numbers on the tickets and there are timing for each batch of tickets. No wonder one look at my tickets the personnel knew whether I can take this current tram or not.
I feel that they should have explained to us while rejecting and not have us stood there like goons not knowing why we are rejected and what to do despite having valid tickets.
|
Timings for different serial numbers |
Seriously, I am not sure what you will do if you missed the designated tram for your serial number or if you decided to take the tram around the park a 2nd time .
We waited for 5trams before we could board and of course, a sun bear is slowly emerging from his shell and I had to keep him engaged in conversations to distract him from all the waiting.

Finally onboard |

Let's go! |
The tram makes 5 stops along the way namely Taejongsa temple, Yeongdo lighthouse, Observatory, Gumyeongsa Temple, Taewon Jagal Madang.
You can get off at any stops and re-board the tram again. Just remember to show your ticket to re-board the tram.
No one got down at the 1st 2 stops so you to take note on whether you are able to re-board the very full tram if you get down from here.
The stop that most of us start alighting is the observatory where on a good day, you are able to see Japan across the sea.
Since it was winter, the fog was pretty thick and we couldn't see much. There isn't much to do here except to stand here and let the wind blow in your face and feel cold. There are also some binoculars that allows usage for a small some of money but we didn't bother.
|
Not much to see from here.. |
There is a small eatery here serving coffee, if you have the time why not buy a cup and stand here sipping hot coffee while the sea wind blows in your face?
|
A selfie before we go |
Mr Love is not keen on these kind of things and we decided to walk to the lighthouse stop which is 1 stop down.
We walked to the next stop here the light house is located, it's pretty near and down hill so we figured out no point waiting for the tram.
But we didn't make it all the way down to the light house as it was a long flight of stairs down and my feet is acting up. It's a bit disappointing though but Mr Love doesn't seems too interested in the light house too.
In fact he find this park boring. Muhahah.

Lighthouse from the top |
We then took the tram back to starting point and decided to end the little tour here. I must say I was a bit bummed out that there is nothing much to offer here.
Walked down to the bus terminal and took bus 88 back to Busan station.
