25min later, we reached Shifen (十分). Along the way we passed wat seems to be like a valley, pretty scary as the railway tracks is just on the edge of it. It's like we are entering a mountainous area. The train also make stops briefly at the smaller stations before Shi Fen.
1 special things I notice is, houses are built just right beside the tracks! You can literally see inside the house if the door is open as you passed by. Shops nearing to ShiFen station are aso built juz besides the track.

As we were admiring the scenery, I saw a suspension bridge and told hubs that I will never be caught dead on it as I am afraid of walking on suspensin bridge. Doesn't give me a safe feeling. The ironic thing is, later I would walked past it, not once but twice!

Shops beside the track near to ShiFen station |
We disembarked from the train after it pulled into Shifen station. Turns out it is the 1st stop for most people too.Its before 10am when we reached and thus, shops are mostly closed. Luckily for us, we came early, giving us time to explore Shifen before coming back to the "Shopping belt".

Waiting to cross over to the main street |
As there were too many people getting down at this station, it took a while for them to clear up. We hang around the station for a while, going to the station master office while waiting for the crowd to disperse.

Outside 十分 station master office |
Trains stop here for a longer timing as this is 1 of the main attraction of 平溪 line.

Map of the town |
Shi Fen or rather Pingsi area used to be a coal mining area I think thus along the way, there are some sculptures telling stories of the mining past of this town.

As we walked along Shifen street |
Someone once told me that Taipei rains 200++ days in a year and if you happen to be there when it is not raining, you are considered lucky. We were lucky in this sense, throughout the 5 days we were there, we were caught in the rain only on the last day. :)

Sunny day |
Though weather was punishingly hot today I am glad that it is not raining, for it would be difficult for us to navigate through this small town.

Mr Love posing on the track |
I think Hubs was secretly excited by this town. Not often travelling on trains, even when we are in Singapore, this should be his 1st time being so near to a train track :) For me, I still have my malaysian memories where we travel back by train.

Random pic of Shifen residential area |
We decide to visit Shifen waterfall 1st, since my notes say its 10min from the train station, we followed the signs and begin our walk, not knowing wat is in store for us in front.
