It seems like an interesting to visit when I 1st did my research, located at Wujie township. Nearest train station would be LuoDong. There are buses going there from Luodong bus station at intervals. We had actually planned to take the bus, but as we wasted too much time locating our hotel and was too tired by the long march under the hot sun, we decided to take a taxi there from our hotel, the cost is NTD200 (less than SGD 10) and the journey is pretty long.

National Centre for Traditional Arts (传艺)as the name suggested, is a centre where traditional Taiwanese crafts are displayed.
Once you entered the centre, there are some exhibition halls on the left show casing pottery, sewing, puppets shows, lantern making, bamboo weaving etc.. Its tells the history of these crafts and also how it is fast becoming a dying trade in Taiwan.
The exhibits are quite interesting, but there is quite a lot to absorb. We walked around for an hr before deciding to venture outdoors.
We came out just in time to catch a mini show, where there is 1 commentator on wheels telling stories and the performers act according to his narrative.

BUGS! |
I didn't really catch what the commentator is talking as I was busy checking out the shop that is selling sausage. But I did take a peep at the performance once in a while while buying my food. Hurhur

Commentator on wheels |
As it was a Wednesday, thus the centre is not packed. Still, there is a crowd following the performance and we were not able to overtake them.
Its gives me some time to walk slowly along the shops to check out what they have to offer.

A rainy scene |
The shops here pretty much sells traditional handmade crafts. Some of them does allow DIY. Hubs seems to be uninterested in these and we moved quickly from 1 shop to another.

Built like the olden days |
The performance came to a stop at a stage area outside the food court and finally we got a chance to overtake them. We decided to take our lunch here before proceeding to next destination. And since we need to catch the 12pm bus out, thus we are left with no choice but to take an early lunch.
|
Nice surrounding |
The food court was empty when we went in as the others are still watching the performance outside. Walked up and down twice before deciding to eat the bento set.
|
Canteen like tables and chairs |
I decided to eat 铁路便当again as really loved their braised meat . Mr Love decided to try too as he is curious why I am so in love with the bento.
It costs NTD139 for the set which comes with unlimited top up for soup and drink. Quite worth it if you asked me, but if you compared to the bento selling price on trains, this is much more expensive.
|
铁路便当 again! |
They sell all sorts of bento at this stall or in fact all other stalls' food look nice, just that there are only 2 of us and we couldnt try everything at 1 go.

Our bento |
After a very full lunch, we decided to head out to wait for the bus. Came across a stall selling paper meat (very much like our 肉干, but thinner) and decided to try the samples. The 阿姨 very friendly lo, gave us a lot of sample to try and is not forceful towards us to buy her products.
Love the taste, I remembered buying the same in Taipei during our last trip but this is more crispy and thinner. End up buying 6 packs from her which she uses a box to pack them with. Hehe. Can put into our small luggage along with the hammie's cage and then, ta dah! We can check-in the luggage. No hand carry..woohoo..
As we proceed to leave, she gave us 1 complimentary packet stuffed with the various kind of paper meat. She told me its for me to snack on my way around Taiwan..So happy!!! I love Taiwanese's 热情!!谢谢阿姨!!

Waiting for bus |
We then walked back to the entrance where we will need to take a bus to Luodong Sports park. There are buses here that goes back to Luodong train station too. But be warned, the frequency sucks..You only get 1 bus in an hr. So really need to work on the timing.
|
Buses that comes here |
The bus that we are taking are Taiwan Tourist shuttle bus( 台湾好行 ). They will pick up passengers from major train stations and make stops along major attractions. The fees are pretty low and the Yilan buses accept Easy card, thus it a convenient way to travel if you are not familiar with Taiwan public transportation.

Along the street |
1 thing to note is, there are no taxi available here its pretty out of the way. Unless you are lucky enough to get a cab that is dropping passengers. The cab driver who drove us here gave me his name card. He said we can call him should we need a cab here out to Lou Dong town, charges would be NTD200. Not expensive, but I prefer the local way:) Still, its handy to have their name cards on hand.
