台湾春天之旅 2013-YMS Flower Clock (阳明山花钟)

And so we took a bus from 竹子湖 and alighted at the next stop thinking that its where the flower clock is located as I overheard the bus driver announcing "花钟站" but then I guess I heard wrongly over the loud voices. This stop is no where near the flower clock lo!!!

If I am not wrong, the stop we alight is called YMS Carpark 2. And the best thing is, there seems to be no service from here to the flower clock. Tried asking the bus drivers, all told me to walk to dunno which main road to try our luck.

Then I realised, its possible for us to walk the the flower clock from here, and we decided to walk since the weather is pretty cooling.
Extra bus services for flowers season
The journey to flower clock is to descend which I am secretly grateful for. Had it been an ascending climb, I would have give up. Hehe..

1st to greet us is a long flight of stairs we need to take, I hope that we are moving in the right path, if we ever have to u-turn and climb up, I wun be able to make it up in 1 piece. The funny thing I noticed is, there are alot of ah gongs and ah mas climbing the stairs up while we are going down. Guess this is their trekking path. Hubs was luffing at me along the way say even Taiwan Ah gong and Ah ma are fitter den me..hmmmffffffff.......
Pretty flowers everywhere

Trekking day for Taiwan Ah Gong and Ah Ma

Along the way, there are some road signs to direct us to the correct direction of the flower clock. This proves that we are on the right track.

Road signs to the flower clock
Then we came across a YMS map, I nearly fainted when I realised the distance between where we are and the flower clock. And based on our experience, Taiwan maps usually makes the distance look nearer than it really is..Jialat..But there is no turning back oredi. The flights of stairs we took just now to come down is no joke to go up, is like playing a joke on me and my legs.Hurhur.

Map of the park
Sakura along the way
We continued walking, chatting on the way and realised suddenly that surroundings are becoming deserted. There is no civilization in sight, no more road signs also and we are alone. I got panicky as I dun wan to be lost in YMS. But there seems to be no other alternative road to choose from so we kept walking the only road in front hoping that it would bring us to where we wanted to go.

We finally saw what it seems to be like a food street there and happily walked down. Got hungry after all this trekking :)
Finally, food stalls

宜兰葱油饼 again
There is great variety of food for you to choose from and we brought 1 宜兰葱油饼 and 1 台湾香肠 to share. Hehe Certainly gave me a boost of energy in this cold weather. We asked the vendors and they told us flower clock is like another 15min walk down. Having filled our stomach already, we or rather I have more energy to continue the walk down. Heheh.

A variety for you to choose from

Sausage we brought

Too much to choose from

Fried veggie
We continued our walk after we leaving the food street. It got more crowded here, perhaps of the food street. Still not knowing what is in store for us, we followed the others blindly. I thank god for the good weather and thus good mood of Mr Love. Had it been a sunny day, I think he would turned in to a sun bear.

15 min more...
I got tired holding my flowers and decided to stick it into Mr Love's bag, making him look like a ninja carrying some sort of weapon. Haha. There is also slight drizzling which is pretty irritating, not strong enough to make you want to take out ur umbrella, not light eough to not make you not wet. Aggrrrr..

Mini water fall

See the flowers sticking out?

squirrel having its tea break

Nice flowers in full blossom
We finally start to see trees full of blossomed flowers and is happy to take in the sights despite not knowing what flowers are they. Hehe. Here, small groups of Taiwanese aunties and uncles gathered to take photos and pose in front of the pretty flowers. At 1 point making it difficult for me to take photos of the flowers without capturing them into it too.

Sakura petal

Going to be botak 樱花树

Tons of people waiting to take photos

We couldnt resist and took 1 self shot too

Not sure wat flowers are these
More sakura
Moving on, we came face to face with a garden full of sakura trees. But perhaps the season is almost over thus the trees seems to be a bit bare. Imagine the trees full of sakura, how wonderful the sight would be?? Perhaps we should come by here in Feb for our next trip to catch the cherry blossoms. But then, I would miss the calla lilies which will only start its season in March..Aggrrr...

1 photo with the 樱花s

Cabbage look a like

We continue to walk around awhile more before we decided it got too crowded for our liking and began follow the path down. While on the path way, I realised the flower clock is right below this sakura garden. Yayy. Finally found wat we are looking for. Didnt waste our efforts to trek down.

Too windy, I decided to hide in the telephone booth
While on our down, we overheard some local wondering aloud whether the flower clock has been dismantled or cease to work. It got us worried for a moment, especially me as I would be bringing hubs walking down for nothing. Luckily we presisted. Hehe I told him I didnt read anywhere in my research that the flower clock is no longer working. Bleah.

花钟
There was this couple there who hogged the flower clock to keep taking photos of each other for a good 20 min. We got impatient while waiting and decided to take with them in the back ground too. hahah.

Then when they moved away, there was this elderly couple who seeked our help to take photo for them. The wife was very excited that she is able to take a photo with no others in the background. The hubs, on the other hand, looks uninterested but still obliged to his wife's request. For some reason, her happiness rub off me, I felt happie to be able to help her :)
Infront of the flower clock
Suddenly, the clock started to play music! It turns out that music would be played at every hour. To think the local was wondering whether the flower clock is still working or not. It is working perfectly fine! Am glad we reached in time to witness this. Mission accomplished. Hehe

YMS Flower season 2013
We walked around abit more to admire the other flowers and then decided to end this YMS trip. I got my calla lilies, manage to see the flower clock and also a little bonus that there are still some sakura left. Hehe. Aside from the drizzling, the weather has been good today, making walking a breeze.

There are still alot of attractions of YMS that we didnt get to visit. Time is just too short today. Perhaps, the next time when we come back to Taipei, I would plan to spend another half day here to explore other parts. Till then, YMS.Thank you for the good weather and the pretty flowers.

Too lazy to open my umbrella
