Reason being, the photo on it was still the 12 year old me. I once showed a Chinese immigration officer @ Zhuhai customs my IC when she requests as she claims that I look different from my passport photo.
Told her I look MORE different from my IC photo and proceed to show her. She was amused at my 12 year old look and nevertheless let me clear the customs. Hurhur.
And so with this year where the 84's are changing our IC, it marks the end of the era where 12 year olds received their ICs. It has since changed to 15.
The thing is I don't understand why should I pay for something that I didn't ask for. I mean IC is what a country issues to their citizens. Shouldn't it be free? Its not my fault that my looks change given that I did not undergo any plastic surgery.
Anyways though with much grumbling, I tried to apply online 3days after I received the letter as I am also required to renew my passport this year with less than 2months left from the expiry date. So wanna act smart and collect both at 1 go.
Guess what, the plan backfired on me!! I am not suppose to apply for the IC until I hit my 30th bday! And I didn't know that. Happily applied for my passport 1st and then got struck at the IC part.
So, dear ICA why send me the notification letter 2wks early when I am not allow to apply earlier? Epic failed.
Now, I am struck with going down twice for the collection as I need my passport to go on a short trip next weekend. How nice.
And so, I am going to pay 80bucks to my gahmen for my 30th bday. Any chance you would consider to give me some bday vouchers?
