Taipei 2010 Day 3-Part 1-Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall (国父纪念馆)

We were greeted with grey skies on Day 3 as we stepped out of the hotel at 8am. I have this rule when overseas during F&trip, I will not go to bed early but will wake up early to fully utilized my day. Want sleep can stay at home, dun need to pay air fares and hotel fares to sleep rite?

New outfit all brought from TPE
Anyways, we did not know a typhoon is on its way since we didn't watch any news. Today, is more of a walk walk see see day, with me deciding the venue just last nite. Don on the new tank top and skirt I brought last night, cause the weather is still pretty hot there. Mr Love says I am vain, instead of wearing the clothes I brought over, I wore my new clothes ;P

Started the day by visiting Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall (国父纪念馆), it was not on my list initially but since we are travelling along the blue line (Nangang line) today, must as well go rite? Besides only this kind of attractions opens this early. All other shopping centers are still closed.

Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall station

We alight at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial hall station and took a 10min walk to the memorial hall, the sky is getting greyer by the minute and we were pretty worried. Took a few photos outside the memorial hall and we proceed inside to view the exhibition.

The oil painting
Its a huge memorial hall with pictures of Mr Sun Yat Sen(孙中山先生) and the history and also some artifacts being showcased. Tried taking some photos but failed as my camera cannot take decent pictures of things in showcases. Damn. Then we found out that there is also a guards changing parade here and decided to stay and watch the parade at 9am.

We parked ourselves at the 2nd level to get a bird's eye view, I don't wan to squeeze with the others like yesterday. The guards here were from the Navy if I am not wrong. They even have 1 colleague who will go around massaging the arms for the guards on sentry. And even help to wipe off their perspiration. So sweet, haha.

The parade is similar to the 1 at Martyr's Shrine except they marached in a smaller compound. We stayed till the whole parade is over before going down to take a few photos with the huge statue of Mr Sun Yat Sen.

The Parade

We went to check out the gifts shop with me in hope to buy something back for my bros .Didn't manage to get them anything yet. Think my piggy bro will be happie to get some thing from Sun Yat Sen Memorial hall as he is into history.

Then I realised there is a carnival outside and decide to go check it out. Its a company event I think. There a whole length of stalls selling food from different ASEAN countries.. I think we need coupons to buy from them. So end up, we just walked through the carnival and got out of there before any 1 finds out that we are not from the company.

Before checking out the carnival
From where we are, we can clearly see Taipei 101, which is our next stop. Took a pic of the building from here. Think it will be more difficult to take the pic of the whole tall building as we got nearer to it.
